Get to Know Dr. Skuja
Born in Libya and raised in Saudi Arabia, Dr. Skuja has always had a passion for medicine. Spending her summers in the United States as a child, she eventually moved here permanently for college, receiving her Bachelor of Science in Microbiology from the University of Iowa.
Dr. Skuja then went on to earn her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Maryland Baltimore College of Dental Surgery. She completed her General Practice Residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA, and received her Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry from Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Skuja enjoyed traveling to different states with her family as her husband pursued career opportunities. This travel exposed her to work experiences in various dental settings: private practice, large corporate offices, and federally qualified medical centers. Seeing this variety of dental environments made Dr. Skuja all the more passionate about creating her own positive, encouraging practice where she could deliver the highest quality care to her patients.
Recently, Dr. Skuja engaged with the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry in a leadership position and is actively pursuing involvement with her state chapter’s pediatric dental academy. Dr. Skuja has always maintained privileges at the local pediatric hospitals as this has allowed her to provide services to children with special healthcare needs and those who may be medically compromised.
Dr. Skuja is married with two children and enjoys spending time with family and friends during her spare time. Dr. Skuja also enjoys cooking and trying new recipes and has recently taken up gardening. When she gets that rare and elusive moment of alone time, she can be found at the arboretum or her city’s local museum.
